You knew it was going well for Tulsa when Paul Smith was punting the ball inside the 20 yard line and Chris Chamberlain scored a touchdown on a quarterback draw. It made the hurry up no huddle offense seem somewhat conventional. The Hurricane finished the game in a light rain and a 35-17 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. While the offense gets the most attention, the defense came up big delivering a second half shutout after Tulsa was down by 3 at halftime. Paul Smith and the offense held up their end of the deal by scoring 3 touchdowns in the second half. Smith threw for 309 yards to 8 different receivers that compiled to the 524 yards of total offense. Tulsa is guaranteed to be undefeated after next weekend as well due to a bye week, and back on the field to host Mountain West favorite BYU September 15th.
