It hasn't been an easy road for Calvin. His family moved so he was required to sit out his sophomore year, then a shoulder injury kept him from playing as a junior. Finally, as a senior, he got his chance and kept getting better and better as the season went on.
"It was actually kind of weird," Calvin explained. "I really didn't catch on at first. It wasn't until around the fourth game when my level of play started coming up. By the end of the season, it was like a total 360 of where I was at the beginning. I was shutting people down in the playoffs and coaches started asking, 'who is this kid?'. That's when my recruiting started really picking up. The head coaches really like my film from my last five games."
Calvin made 40 tackles, two interceptions with a pick six, 12 pass breakups, one fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a big impact player on special teams with a kickoff return for a touchdown. He now has 14 games as a starter under his belt and is ready to take his game to the next level.
"I'd like to make my commitment before the end of January," Calvin stated. "If I do take a visit the weekend of February 1st I may wait to National Signing Day, but hopefully I'll know before then. I'd love to go into a program where I'd have the opportunity to play as a freshman. Really, I want to be a starter. I want to play for coaches I enjoy being around and have an awesome relationship with. I think I'll know a lot more once I've taken my visits."
Fresno Centennial made it all the way to the Texas 4A Division 1 regional final this season and finished the year at 12-2. Calvin has sprinter speed and plans to show it off this spring in the 100 and 200 meter dash for his track team. He wore jersey number-21 this year for Titan football.
