November Visits for Davis?

Richmond Bush DB Chad Davis

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with Bush cornerback Chad Davis from Richmond, Texas for a brief recruiting update and to take about his team's latest win…

He won some and lost some.

But that is just the life of a top level defensive back and something that Richmond (TX) Bush defensive back Chad Davis is far too familiar with. In last week's 29-22 win over district rival Elkins, Davis had a tall task ahead of him.

And of course he welcomed the challenge.

"It was a great win today. We knew we would have our hands full today as a secondary unit," Davis said last Friday after the win. "With the receivers they have, we knew it would be tough. But we came into this game mentally prepared."

The receivers he is referring to are Elkins' J'Mon Moore and Darvin Kidsy, both of which will be playing major Division I football next fall. For the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Davis, he was able to match up against each of them.

Davis turned is a solid performance, but by no means was this a cake walk.

"Of course, Moore and Kidsy are great players. I knew I had my hands full with both of them," Davis said. "But we came out the victory that's all that matters."

Spoken like a true team player. But in the overall team effort, Davis came away (unofficially) with seven tackles and an interception. The drive just before the interception, Davis was matched up against Moore about four minutes until halftime.

Elkins went to the air and Davis seemed to have position, but Moore hauled in an 11-yard touchdown.

"When I jammed him (Moore), the quarterback threw an inside route and I couldn't get my hips back opened to catch the ball. He made a great play," Davis said. "In all honesty I expect a great player to make a great play. I knew I had to come back and respond so came down with an interception."

Based on the commentary above, it's clear that Davis could be considered a relentless playmaker. And this is obvious by the fact that close to a dozen coaches want him on their rosters for the 2013 season.

So far, Texas Tech, San Jose State, Tulsa, North Texas, Utah State and UTEP are some of the schools that have offered. And TCU has been showing some interest here as well.

But Davis said that this upcoming month he will start to make some visits. In fact, a couple of programs are looking to get him in soon.

"I will be taking visits in the month on November. Minnesota wants me to come up and also North Texas," Davis said. "As far as I know, those are the only two right now."
